Massive protest at dusk in Delhi with a banner reading Aarakshan Hatao, Desh Bachao

Jan Andolan · New Delhi

The street has spoken. Now the nation must answer.

Backed by citizens discarded by reservation politics, driven by merit. Five clear demands. One unshakeable movement.

Citizens have signed on — हर हस्ताक्षर एक आवाज़

Every signature is one more voice the nation must hear

75+ yrs

A measure introduced as temporary in 1950 is still running — with no sunset in sight.

50%

The Supreme Court's ceiling on total reservation. State after state keeps breaching it.

1 × 1 × 1

One family. One reservation. One time. Then the ladder passes to the next family in line.

5 Demands for Reservation Reform

A clear, constitutional and time-bound roadmap — not an attack on any community. Read them. Share them. Hold every politician to them.

  1. Demand 1

    Income-Based Reservation

    Poverty has no caste.

    • Reservation should be based on income, not caste, so every poor family gets equal opportunity.

  2. Demand 2

One Family. One Reservation. One Time.

The ladder should be climbed once.

    • Once a family has benefited from Reservation, the next generation should compete on merit.
    • Reservation should be used only once — either for education or for a government job, not repeatedly for education, jobs, and promotions.

  3. Demand 3

    Minimum Standards for Everyone

    Standards protect everyone.

    • Every exam must have minimum qualifying marks within 10–20% of the higher quota cut-off.
    • If reserved seats remain vacant, they should be allotted to General category candidates.

  4. Demand 4

    Stop Reservation Politics

    Quotas are not election currency.

    • Ban political parties from promising new or higher Reservation quotas during elections.
    • The 50% limit on caste-based Reservation should not be breached.
    • Review Reservation every 10 years using updated socio-economic data.
    • Update Reservation lists periodically. Communities that have progressed should be moved to the General category.

  5. Demand 5

    Sunset Clause

    No policy should run forever.

    • Set a time-bound roadmap to improve government schools, teachers, and educational infrastructure.
    • As educational inequality reduces, Reservation should be gradually phased out.

On the ground

Not a hashtag. A street.

Old muhawre, new fight. The language of the movement is the language of the people.

Students marching with a banner reading Ek Parivar, Ek Aarakshan, Ek Baar
One family. One reservation. One time.
Protest placard with the Hindi idiom Ek Anaar, Sau Bimaar and a painted pomegranate
Too few seats, too many claimants — the muhawra says it all.
Raised fists and tricolour flags at sunset with a sign reading Mehnat ka phal meetha hota hai
Let hard work be the only shortcut.
